A photograph album that contains photographs of the Fitzsimmons family.
a - The rectangular shaped cardboard and leather cover for the photograph album has become detached from the rest of the object. It has three gold coloured lines bordering around the perimeter of the cover and a gold coloured line around the circumference of the cameo. The cameo is in the centre of the cover. It is made of molded plastic and is an image of a woman from the bust up. She has curly hair and is wearing a beaded necklace with a pendant. There are four metal studs in each corner of the cover that are decorated with a molded image of a flower. There are two rectangular shaped metal clasps on the opposite end of the spine that are used to secure the album closed.

b - The main body of the photograph album is comprised of a cover page and twenty double-sided pages, with each page having space for a single photograph. On the page opposite the front cover, written in pencil is "Adeline Fitzsimmon's Book // born about 1840-41 // died 22 Sept. 1936 // married to James Morris Manhard". The spine for the album is missing. The three sides of the body are decorated with gold edging.

c - A faded black and white photograph of two men. The man standing on the left wearing the bowler hat is James Morris Manhard, while the man on the right is unidentified. On the back of the photograph is the photographers mark "A.C. McIntyre // Corner Main & Market St, Brockville, C.W". "C. 1865" is written in pencil on the back of the photograph.

d- A faded black and white oval shaped photograph of an infant. The photograph is mounted on a greenish/blue coloured rectangular shaped cardboard matt. On the matt, underneath the photograph is "A.G. COLE, ROSS' BLOCK, BROCKVILLE // PHOTO. // TURN OVER". Written in pencil on the back of the matt is "Gertie?". "Dominion Gallery, // Brockville, Ont // A.G. COLE, PROPRIETOR." is in red lettering also on the back of the matt.

e - A faded black and white oval shaped photograph of an infant Lillian May Fitzsimmons (Gowan). The photograph is adhered to a beige coloured rectangular shaped cardboard matt. He is wearing a three piece suit, with jacket, vest, and buttoned shirt and a bowtie. Written in pencil on the back of the matt is "Robert Fitzsimmons // (1810 - 1890)". In black lettering also on the back of the matt is "A.C. McINTYRE & Co., // STUDIO, // COURT HOUSE AVENUE, // BROCKVILLE, ONTARIO".

Adeline Fitzsimmons (Manhard) is seated in the second row on the far right. Handwritten in pencil on the back of the matt is "Our mother Adeline Fitzsimmons Manhard[t]".

History    
Robert Fitzsimmons Jr. was one of two sons of Robert Fitzsimmons Sr. and Honor Fallon. He was born in 1811 in Exeter, England, but grew up in Brockville, Ontario with his parents and brother William Fitzsimmons. The album belonged to his daughter Adeline Fitzsimmons Manhard and contains images of his relatives. There are also images of Colonel David Wylie, a Scottish journalist who came to Brockville in 1849 and took over ownership of the Brockville Recorder, and Lord Henry John Temple Palmerstone, a past Prime Minister of Britain. Robert Fitzsimmons Jr. was the Mayor of Brockville in 1858.
