A collection of three black and white photographs that are adhered to a piece of beige coloured paper. The photograph on the top left is of a little boy (Philip Smart) wearing a striped t-shirt sitting on steps with a dachshund sitting beside him. The photograph underneath is of a woman holding Philip Smart, who is also holding a doll. The photograph on the right is of Edwin Smart with the dachshund in his lap. Handwritten in blue ink on the back of the matte is "Philip Smart on back stairs 95 King Street East Brockville // Edwin, a baby born January 1938 // later the dog died on King Street // home in background of vertical photo demolished about 1960 // home of politican [sic] Hugh Stewart - and wife Stella Wiltse".
History    
Philip Smart was the son of Dr. Robert E. Smart. He studied at the Ontario College of Art in the early 1960's and spent the summers painting some of the older homes in Brockville.

Edwin Smart was the General Manager and President of R. H. Smart Hardware Ltd. The store was established by his father, a nephew of James Smart (Foundry). Robert H. Smart in 1873 operated til 1984.
