A circular shaped, red coloured blank metal dog tag. There is a hole through the top of the tag.
History
Ketchum Manufacturing Inc. began with Zebulon Ketchum, an Ottawa based inventor who turned his love of tinkering into a successful business. He originally owned a bicycle shop in downtown Ottawa which eventually grew and expanded into other products including metal identification tags to be used in the livestock industry. Isabelle Ketchum Percival began working with her father after school at a very young age and gradually accepted more and more responsibility for the company's operations until she purchased the business outright in 1921. During WWI and WWII the business adapted and re-tooled so it could help with the war effort, producing bullet casings, gun triggers, detonator covers, and dog tags for the soldiers, which it still produces today. The company continued to expand and enter new markets, becoming a custom print factory, printing and die cutting plastics for use in the hotel, retail, and grocery industries. In 2005 the company moved to a more spacious facility at 1245 California Avenue in Brockville, Ontario where it still operates as of 2018.
